One particularly popular feature of Firefox is its support for extensions that add it, according to the needs of the user, many features for optimized use. Over the past four years, more than 8,000 developers have developed 12 000 plugins. Last Wednesday, the Mozilla Labs introduced a new programming interface to facilitate further development of new extensions.
Jetpack baptized, this environment allows anyone able to code a web page to adjust the browser.Forget about restarting the program, simply click a simple link to install the addon of choice and reload the page being consulted. "We want to enable more people to participate in the creation of browser functionality," said Aza Raskin, Head of the Department of User Experience at Mozilla. It specifies that any web developer familiar with HTML, CSS or JavaScript can embark on the adventure.
Mozilla Labs has released two examples. The first UNAD, contains 80 lines of code and, like AdBlock Plus, mask unwanted ads on web pages. Email Notifier is a small plug of fifty lines warn the user of a new message on his Gmail account.
