OCZ Technology, a popular premium supplier of computer components and advanced memory products, is the world's first "Do-it-yourself" (DIY) Netbook, the end-users can configure itself. While the product seems to be very interesting, but not exactly fit into the typical Netbook under the low-cost low-performance sub-notebook.

OCZ's barebone neutrino Netbook with 10" screen and, according to the company, the end-user to install memory, hard drive or Solid State Drive is based on the demand and preferences. It is not known whether OCZ offers an option to choice between factory installed single core and dual-core Intel Atom processor, but that would be a very useful feature for enthusiasts. It is also not clear whether OCZ neutrino is based on the rather outdate Intel 945 GSE core logic platform DirectX 9-class graphics and uses the latest Intel GN40 chipset with DirectX 10-supporting graphics core.

The new initiative from OCZ DIY proves that Netbook category has become and not on the market and supplier of advanced components sold premium price of the opinion that their customers may be interested customizable Netbook.

"But that good things come in small packages, a giant neutrino Packs Punch for On-The-Go Travel, education, household, or any user looking for a lightweight computer physically, but to the grave of useful applications and functions," OCZ said in a statement.

OCZ Barebone neutrino is expected in the United States sometime in Q2 the 2009.

Re: DIY "Do-It-Yourself" Netbook by OCZ Technology

It will come lacking RAM, a hard drive and an operating system. Otherwise the rest of the specifications are basically identical to most netbooks on the market. It comes with a 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor sitting on Intel’s 945GSE mainboard and sports a 10-inch LED-backlit screen with 1024x600 resolution. Users will then be able to squeeze in 2.5-inch drives with up to 250GB capacities, including OCZ’s own 250GB SSD drive, as much as 2GB of RAM and either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux.
