In terms of Internet security, Ad-Aware by Lavasoft is a must to erase any traces of spyware on the machine. Yesterday, the Swedish publisher unveiled its anti-virus.
Called Helix, the software offers protection against viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware as well as advanced technology to uninstall the rookits. Like a software virus traditional threat is detected when it is put into quarantine for a removal later. Helix can also scan emails (POP and SMTP), the IM clients or the content of websites, a new threat affecting between 2.5% and 4% of all web pages. Moreover, with Helix, Lavasoft promises an optimized scan machine that uses little system resources.

Free for 30 days, Helix is available in English for Windows 2000, XP (32 and 64 bit) and Vista (32 and 64 bit) from U.S. $ 23.95 (or € 22.95) for a license for one year , 32.09 dollars (30.75 €) for two years and 40.95 dollars (39.25 €) for three years.
