Beginning 2009, the two groups propose to the general public an opportunity to consult the Internet on their television through applications such widget. Here is a foretaste.
We know television on the Internet, which continues to grow. Soon it will be the turn of the Internet to be available on television. It has been more than ten years since the project is in cartons of several industrial and few attempts, unsuccessful for the most part, have been launched. Yahoo and Intel announced Wednesday to make a lot and offer this service - called Widget Channel - from the beginning of 2009 the USA. A key: an additional hearing for the Internet and therefore more opportunities for advertising and e-commerce.
On the ground, the two companies are therefore working together. A software based on technology Yahoo has just completed a new microprocessor built by Intel that allows any interactive device to connect to a television set.

Unlike many attempts to replicate the traditional Web interface between a PC and television, Yahoo and Intel have opted for a more simple solution that could be compared to advertisements which embellish certain videos on the Web, including YouTube. A strip at the bottom of the television screen will display icons that you can scroll from one side to another of the screen during the broadcast of television programme above. It is actually use the concept of widget. A click on one of these small applications triggers a partial expand on the TV screen.
Thus viewers can follow their television programmes staying connected via the Internet to their community or friends, follow the information on sports, finance or more general news, follow the auction on eBay ...
Finally, according to Intel and Yahoo, many players have already rallied to their idea: Walt Disney-ABC, eBay, Blockbuster, Comcast, CBS Interactive, CinemaNow, Cinequest, GroupM, Joost, MTV, Motorola or Sony and Toshiba.
