How to recover a missing partition

I was facing some problem with the Vista Startup hence I used Partition Magic 8 to fix the drive. Well, it did it but since then my one partition is missing. It actually started when my Service Pack one got bootstrapped. When I go to Disk management, I can see it listed lower list but it wont appear above. Also am not able to do anything with that partition as Vista gives me an error message whenever I right click that partition.

Is there anyway I can recover this partition? Please help.

First of all did you check the system requirements of partition magic 8 before installing it or using it on Vista? Its all your mistake dude, because this partition tool is not is not compatible with Vista. So such errors and problems are most likely to appear. Anyway, now you can use the mbrwork from terabyteunlimited.com to recover the lost volume. It should help you.

Re: How to recover a missing partition

Thank you very much for the help Billie. As per your instructions I tried the same but seems like Vista is forcing Mbrwork to quit with an error stating:

“An application has attempted to directly access the hard disk, which cannot be supported”

After trying all these things I finally decided to re-install vista to recover my lost partition but surprisingly am not able to see that partition even while OS reinstallation?

Somebody please give some working suggestion for the same?

All right, I think you need to go with Acronis Disk Director. I have seen few guys using this effectively. Just download and install the same. Later make a disaster recovery CD. Insert it in DVD drive and boot from the same. It will help you recovering the lost partition.

Burn it to a CD and recover your partition table under DOS. Have a try of the EASEUS partition recovery bootable CD?
