I bought this gateway computer about 10 months ago. There was some problem in the system, hence I sent it back to Gateway for repairing as the system is still in warranty. They returned me this just a week ago. When I started it for the first time after the repairing, I found a pop up saying “My new Gateway computer has an invalid activation key.”
Well I had the activation key on a sticker back side of computer, I entered the same, I got a message saying “successful activation.” But when I reached to the desktop I had the black background with a message in the right bottom of the screen saying:
“Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6001
This copy of Windows is not genuine”
How this could be? I bought this computer from Gateway at pretty good price, windows was genuine and it worked fine for 10 months. But the problem started just after it came back from gateway service center. Does it mean gateway guys screwed up? Or is there any bug or settings that I need to configure? Please help.
