| Vista Ultimate Raid to Non-Raid
I thought I had been able to make a backup of a Vista Ultimate System on a Raid0 array (C: partition using the standalone Acronis True Image 10 boot disk) and copy it back to a non-Raid disk. For some reason Vista will not boot correctly and the Vista boot disk Repair Option thinks about it for 5 minutes or so and then says it can't fix the problem. I know I have done this trick with WinXP and I thought I had done it with Vista. I know I can do the save/restore routine (Raid0 to Raid0) with the Acronis standalone software. Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get a Raid0 version of Vista Ultimate transferred to a non-Raid disk using all the same hardware. I have the Vista Ultimate System on a network so I can backup to a different controller and hard drive, delete the array, reformat using Partition Magic 8.0 and restore. The only reason I am trying to do this trick is because the SATA controller on the motherboard does not support Raid Arrays and SATA DVD Drives together...and...I want to install multiple SATA DVD Drives on this system. |

| Re: Vista Ultimate Raid to Non-Raid
Hi, have the same problem with different backup software (including DriveClone, Paragon, Genie-Backup, etc). Found a hint in an article that says it would not work with Intel Matrix Storage integrated on the motherboard but were supposed to work with external Raid or separate Raid cards. Am exploring the issue at the moment. |

Presumably you created an Image. You then made the appropriate adjustments to the bios to disable raid, and perhaps disconnected the other hd's prior to reimaging the sys? Yes. |

I pretty sure I have done this with Ghost 2003 (Standalone CD/Floppy Boot Version). I lost interest after I installed the latest version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software and the DVD Drive problem went away. |

I have same problem. Raid 0 on a HP d5990y Vista Ultimate computer. Want to revert to non-raid. Made image of Drive C. Moved image to non-raid drive. Set BIOS SATA to non-raid (IDE) mode. Will not boot. |

Did you remember to go into the RAID BIOS menu and reset the drives to non-RAID? |
