| Vista DVD boot stuck at loading bar We just got a new computer, and it had already been set up by Tech guys at Fry's, who offered to put the components together and install the Operating system for us....and after about 3 days of having the computer in fine working condition, I had put the system on sleep mode, went back after school to turn it on, and it wouldn't restart or resume. So I did a cold boot, and it came up with a screen saying that "WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe missing or corrupted" and error number "0xc00000F". It told me to reboot from system installation CD or DVD and run the repair prompt. I stuck in the Vista Home Pemium Edition install CD, and booted it from there. It brought me to the green loading bar....and stopped. I have left the computer here for around 4 hours, hoping it would load and boot up, and will try again for longer tonight. I tried rebooting from the CD multiple times.....in Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration.....and it all came to the same result. Activity has halted in all the solutions I have tried. Please help, this is a 2000+ dollar computer and I'd like to make it work right without having to send it back. I'll post my system specs if needed....Thank you in advance. -- Heirophant |

| RE: Vista DVD boot stuck at loading bar
To boot it from the DVD you have to change the Boot Menu in BIOS to make the CD/DVD drive 1st in the Boot Order, save the changes, and reboot then with the disk in the drive.. Then do a Startup Repair That involves hitting Delete at startup, and going into BIOS. Save yourself some heartache. It is brand new, and under Warranty. Take it back and exchange it for a new one! Failing an exchange; get them to fix it. For the future, what you were trying to do in Safe Mode with the DVD, you can't. You HAVE to reboot from the Vista DVD to do a startup repair. | Re: Vista DVD boot stuck at loading bar I went to BIOS, and it already had the DVD-ROM slot in first priority...Nonetheless, I saved and exited Bios for another reboot. It starts up, and then says: Press any key to boot from CD or DVD... When I do that, If I don't, it is replaced by a new screen titled Windows Boot Manager: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe Status: 0xc000000f Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt. ENTER=Continue, ESC=Exit When I press enter: Choose an operating system to start, or press TAB to select a tool: (Use arrow keys to highlight your choice, then press ENTER.) Microsoft Windows Vista To specify an advanced option for this choice, press F8. Tools: Windows Memory Diagnostic ENTER=Choose, TAB=Menu, ESC=Cancel When I load Vista, I get stuck at the loading bar. -- Heirophant |
