Fix for 0x80070017 on Vista Install

Today am here not for asking any query but to share a fix that I came across while struggling with Vista installation. I had a Windows XP desktop with 4GB (2 x 2GB) RAM and earlier it was running with Windows XP SP2. Now I bought a Vista Home Premium and tried more then dozens of time but every time I use to get an error code “0x80070017”.

I have tried various things to get rid of this error such as cleaning the Disc, cleaning the DVD drive, uninstalled ATI drivers and many more but nothing helped. Tried internet and various other forums but dint got any thing working.

Finally I just tried removing 2GB of ram and started installation only with 1 stick of 2GB. Guess what, installation went fine and system is working without any problems. So if anyone else here facing error code 0x80070017, should try out this.

Even i believe Windows Vista 32bit can not use all the addressable 4GB of RAM. What you are seeing is correct. The balance(as far as I know) is assigned to hardware.
