    Windows.old file stucked on Vista

I had installed Windows Vista on my existing system. The current system was freezing and to fix that I installed Vista back again without formatting the partition. Somehow the installation was fine, but in C drive large space is occupied by Windows.old folder. I want to delete that. I tried to delete it but the system freezes. I am using Disk Cleanup to wipe the same.

It can be due to low permission. Are you trying to delete the same in a limited user profile. If yes then the issue lies with the account. You must try to delete the same in admin account. And it is not at all necessary to use Disk Cleanup for the same. You can also select the folder and hit shift + del. But do that in admin account.

Let Disk Cleanup run and allow it to take its own time. The file will be deleting on the basis of its size. It if is quiet large and your hard drive is slow then let it get deleted slowly. You can do that much faster in Safe Mode. You can also delete the same in cmd.
