| Sysprep Progress and Windows Assessment Tool in Sysprep
Hello, I am building a Vista Enteprise image and am using sysprep with an unattend.xml file. I have a couple of tweaks that I would like to add to this process but not sure if they are possible or where to look: 1) In Windows XP, you were able to see the various screens when minisetup run. Is there anyway to do this Vista? Right now, all I get is the default wallpaper and the busy circle icon. Sysprep does complete successfully, I would just like to see what its doing, while its doing it. 2) Is there anyway to turn off the "Please wait while windows checks your computer's performance?" (Windows System Assessment Tool)? All my machine types are the same, i already know what the rating is going to be, and this just seems to add time to the process. Anyway to prevent this from running during sysprep? 3) I'm using the skipuseroobe option, but I still have to create a user. Is there anything else I can look at to stop this from happening? Thanks. |

| Re: Sysprep Progress and Windows Assessment Tool in Sysprep 1) No, I don't believe there is a way to change this. 2) I am still trying to find a way to disable this. If anyone has answer to this, please post it. 3) There is no way to NOT create a user during sysprep. What I did was use the WAIK to create a sysprep.xml file that automatically creates a user. I set the user to Administrator since I wanted that account to be re-enabled anyway. I recommend you do the same, or create a dummy user and run a command to delete it later. In my opinion Vista sysprep seems to be geared towards OEMs selling PCs to the home user, and not for the enterprise. Everything we used to do with XP sysprep has changed with Vista. -- drdobsg Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
