32 Bit or 64 on a Intel Core Duo Processor T2600 2.16GHz Laptop?

I am going to upgrade my system and stuck with choosing the right processor. I am going to upgrade my OS. I am confused to choose between a 32bit or 64bit operating system. The processor that I saw is Intel Core Duo Processor T2600 2.16GHz. Can I install a 64bit OS on the same. Is there any chances available or I would have to stick with the 32bit edition only. Thanks.

You can only upgrade to a 64bit OS if your hardware supports it. Or else there is no way to do that. You must check your system specification for the same. And there is no great difference is going for the upgrade. A 64bit system can offer you some 10 to 20% of performance game. It is recommended you stick with what you have. Also 64bit hardware is quiet costly.
