What are you trying to do and when exactly you are getting that error message? i am not able to make out your issue since you have described it in very short. I have Googled out the error and have come across number of similar cases but most of them were because of different causes. Just wanted to know if you are running antivirus in your system? if not then install one and run a through scan and check out if that's making any difference. If not then better explain your issue in a bit detail so that i can have better idea of what you are going through.

I am trying to run regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\vbscript.dll \ command in command prompt. I am getting that error message as soon as type the above command and hit enter. I have tried rebooting my system a couple of times and have made sure that i am logging in as administrator but no avail. Is there anything that i need to check out, i have gone through the threads Modifier has suggested but those cases are different. Any further help regrading this issue will be highly appreciated.

Hey Chapal, i have gone through same error message before. I don't know what exactly was the issue all about. I was getting that error even when i was logged in as Administrator like you, later while carrying out some troubleshooting i ran cmd as Administrator and it worked. I know that right clicking on any application and running it as Administrator after logging in as Administrator doesn't make sense but that's the only thing that helped me from getting rid of that error. If you want then you can try it out as well, best of luck.

I wanted to know if you have tried running it from safe-mode? If not then run that command in safe-mode and let me know the response you get there.

Simply turn off UAC and get rid of that error, this is an common issue in vista. I mean even if you are using an account from Administrators group they continue to run in standard user mode. So You will have to right click on application and select "Run as administartor" that requires administrator access.
