    BSOD STOP Error 0x0000007E

I’m trying to install latest Vista from DVD on my friends laptop but every time I get the follow Stop Error:

    “STOP 0x0000007E (0xC0000420,0x850922EE,0X858056B8,0X858053B4) acpi.sys - Address 850922EE base at 85044000, Datestamp 4549ac8d”

As not being a computer freak, I don’t know anything about this error. Can anyone please help us? Many thanks.

Even I’m struggling with exactly the same error code since a week now. Tried various suggestions posted on several forums but nothing worked so far. In my case I already have Vista Build 5744 installed on my desktop but whenever I try to boot it using checked DVD build of Vista, it gives me Blue Screen with acpi.sys error code.

Isn’t there any fix for this?

i might have found a solution. i spent at least five hours straight trying to figure it out. what finally worked for me was to go to the bios setup and make sure plug and play was enabled and to set everything else to factory defaults.
