Software installation error 0xe0000100 on Windows Vista

I am getting a application error on my Windows Vista system. It was working fine last night. I had kept the system on Windows Update and after that this error appears. Sometime it appears in between when I am working. I cannot figure out which application is causing this. I tried to remove some useless stuff from Windows > Add/Remove Program. But yet the problem still persist. Thanks.

Is there any mount drive in your system. I got this error before when I had installed a game and it needs the iso file to be mounted. When I unmount that the game fails to work. I had removed the game and the issue is solved. You can try running system restore and checking out the problem is gone or not. System restore will help you to get the last best working settings and it is very beneficial also.

I hope this is not a Vista error. It looks the Windows installer is having some kind of problem. You must check properly that you are using the right version. There are chances that new updates has caused some changes in the edition of installer. You can try downgrading it. System restore is one of the best solution that can be helpful in many ways.
