| Error : 0xC004E003 (Can't re-activate) I cannot reactivate after it deactivated after I removed a viral infection. When I tried by Internet it states that the key is in use... I called by Phone and the number the tech gave does not match my valid installation ID. Please help me as this is my primary development system. I have renamed the token file as recommended in the forums, restarted twice and the validation process fails. | Re: Error : 0xC004E003 (Can't re-activate)
Hey, Your activation file [ Tokens.dat ] has gone corrupt because of a Virus infection. Performing a virus scan using an anti-virus software will clean up viruses but will not repair the corrupted files. When you tried to activate Windows Vista, you get the following error message "Code:0xC004E003" Description: The software licensing service reported that license evaluation failed. Some times you also recieve a message "The product key is already in use". When you try phone activation, upon entering the confirmation ID you get a message "The confirmation ID you've entered does not appear to match the installation ID for this computer". Since you've already tried to rename the tokens.dat and also executed the command to re-install the licensing files, the only workaround to end this problem is the following method. Method Either you've to purchase a new OEM product key / Retail product key as per the computer manufacturers or Start backing up your files on to an external hard drive [Passport drive] and re-install Windows Vista. To backup files, you'll have to sign to windows by clicking on "Access your computer with reduced funtionality". It will take you to www.microsoft.com/genuine. Press Ctrl + O. In the dialog box, please type explorer.exe and run it. If it asks you to click on Ok, please click it. It will ask you to Run, please run it [ may be once or twice ]. Now you'll be able to see the taskbar at the bottom and make sure that you should not close any windows which are open. Plug in your external hard drive and start backing up the files. Once you've backed up your critical data, go ahead and wipe out the hard drive and start the installation. Note: After performing a clean installation, you need to install your programs or applications. Once you re-install it, you can put the data back into the drive, but make sure before you do that scan the data that you backed up. Good luck, Hope this information helps you. |
