Language Packs Dissapear After Installing Vista SP2

I just updated my copy of Vista Ultimate to SP2 (RTM). I noticed that after
running Windows Update, the Language Packs that were once there have
dissapeared. Is this normal?

Hi spessog--

I dunno. But have you tried downloading them and installing them again?

Vista SP1 Language Pack

I looked around and didn't find a Language Pack available for Windows Vista
SP2. I may have missed it, but I don't know where one is if one is.

Good luck,

CH

CH,

I can't download them if they don't show up in Windows Update. They are
limited to the Ultimate Edition of Vista, and aren't readily available on
Microsoft's website. Your link is for SP1; I already have that. In fact,
when I revert to SP1 the links reappear on Windows Update -- it's just
happens when I SP2 have installed.

Hi Scott--

I understand that. I tried as hard as I could to find any updated langauge
packs. I have seen links for beta packs for Windows 7 while I was looking
for you. If I were you at this point, I would try to talk to the people at
MSFT who have the best knowledge on what's going on in terms of updating
language packs.

If you sign into this Language Team Blog here, you can post and ask your
questions directly to them. Usually they'll respond to you and since I
can't find what you are asking for, I'm hopeful they can give you an answer:

Microsoft Terminology (and Language) Team Blog

Good luck,

CH

Compatible language packs will most likely be fed into WU after the general
release of SP2..

Chad,

Thanks for your help! I'll take a look at Language Blog as you have
suggested.

Scott--

I haven't been keeping up with Vista SP2's release very well, so if Mike
Hall says it hasn't been RTM'd yet, then I'd expect the language pack
available via Windows Update shortly after. But no harm in giving that team
a shout--I'm sure they'll let you know.

Good luck

CH

Vista SP2 went RTM last week. As of last Thursday it's available for
download from MSDN and Technet; I'm not sure what the GA schedule is.

At this time that's *all* that's available via either MSDN or Technet: no
sign (or info about the need for) an SP2-flavored language pack, WAIK, or
SDK, and no indication of when we'll be able to download a full integrated
distribution of either retail or VLA bits.

By comparison, for the Windows 7 enthusiasts as of last Thursday you can get
download pieces of the RC distribution: Ultimate (no Enterprise yet), DDK,
SDK, WAIK, language packs, checked builds, and debug symbols, all for X86,
X64, and ia64 platforms.

I may not have been too clear in what I said.

Vista SP2 is going public on May 5th. Thereafter, updates will follow, no
doubt also compatible language packs. Some will have to wait longer than
others..
