| Vista boot menu
Hi, I just installed Vista business on an Asus P2-P5945GC and it run fine except for the bootup. Every time I bootup I am presented with the bootmenu, giving me the option to start Vista or (using the TAB key) to start a memory test. I tried editing via control panel->system->advanced->startup and tried a) to disable listing of OS'es. b) set timeout to 0, 3 seconds. I also tried editing it via msconfig.exe, but that also did not work out. Finally I tried setting the default GUID using bcdedit. None of these options worked and I am still stuck with a bootmenu every time the PC starts up. How can I get rid of this boot menu? |

Hi Michel, Not sure why that would have been built that way, but you should be able to correct it using the bootrec command. Instructions can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Michel" <Michel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:21283D06-398E-4DF3-AD2C-BF5EE6BA26A7@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I just installed Vista business on an Asus P2-P5945GC and it run fine > except > for the bootup. > > Every time I bootup I am presented with the bootmenu, giving me the option > to start Vista or (using the TAB key) to start a memory test. > > I tried editing via control panel->system->advanced->startup and tried a) > to > disable listing of OS'es. b) set timeout to 0, 3 seconds. > I also tried editing it via msconfig.exe, but that also did not work out. > Finally I tried setting the default GUID using bcdedit. > > None of these options worked and I am still stuck with a bootmenu every > time > the PC starts up. > > How can I get rid of this boot menu? |
