Files and pictures lost! Need help asap please...

Hi

I have Vista home basic. I've recently reprogrammed my computer because
everything was so slow.I did not back up my files so all the pictures
and files have gone. I went to recovery manager to do what I had to do
and when it restarted,everything was brand new again. Like it asked me
to entre the country/location where I got it from etc etc...I was so
angry with myself that I didn't back up my important files. Yes I'm a
computer dummie!!! Is there a way to retrieve my pictures and files
please? :( I tried finding the restore point to retrieve my files but no
use because now the computer cannot find a restore point at all. I just
need my pictures and files back. My computer was so slow so I thought
this might help. It's running faster than it was before. Any help would
be greatly apprieciated. Thanks!

Hi Mandy,

Sorry to hear about your problem.

I don't know what pc you have , but I assume it had a "recovery
partition " from which it reinstalled the Vista operating system on your
pc.

During this , it may have formatted the hard disk. If it did a "quick "
format , which is likely, you might be able to recover any files that
Vista itself did not overwrite while it was reinstalling.

It is free and easy to check this - click on the link below, then click
the blue bar that says "Download free Glary Undelete Now"

Install the program, run it and see if it finds any recoverable files

If he installs the program, it will over write any files that are there!
Even a quick format I don't think he can recover files.
He can give it a try, but he can not install the recovery program on the
recovery drive.

Hi Paul

Yes almost anything done on the pc will be overwriting a bit of the
hd, but there's no alternative.

I understand that recovermyfiles, at least, can recover form a
formatted hd - as long as it is not overwritten

The only complete way is to slave the wiped data Drive in another computer,
and get PCInspector to recover the lost files, after being installed in the
other computer on the Master Drive there, and reading the Slave drive, from
the Master drive.
And, it still depends if they have been overwritten by the new install of
the OS.

Also try "Restoration"
And "UndeletePlus"
They are good, too.
