Windows vista Home Premium 64-bit edition OEM

I wanted to upgrade to Windows Vista 64-bit for awhile because I want to be
able to add more memory to the system, I didn't care about any of the files
or settings so i wanted to do a clean installation. So I brough a 64-bit
Windows Vista Home Premium OEM and then selected the system BIOS to boot from
my CD-DVD optical drive, but when I inserted the disc it simply loaded files
like an upgrade disk and came up with a blank screen. So then I tryed to
upgrade from the 32-bit Windows XP home edition I have Installed, but it came
up with an error message saying this disk can't run on this version of
Windows. So I want to ask two questions, Firstly do how do I get the disk to
install the OS rather than just loading the files? And failing that how I can
getting running on the existing version of Windows I have installed?

Thanks

RE: Windows vista Home Premium 64-bit edition OEM

I would suggest that you post your Hardware Specs.
Is your computer capable of running a 64bit Operating System?

You can not upgrade 32 to 64bit; has to be a clean install.

Well that's right !
One more thing...Use Windows Vista Retail DVD to do clean
installation....Upgrade disc can't do that.

Re: Windows vista Home Premium 64-bit edition OEM

Set your BIOS to boot from the hard disk you want to install on and also set
your DVD drive as bootable.

Boot the machine with the DVD in the drive. If the hard disk already has a
Windows OS installed you will need to press a key, when prompted, to boot
from the OEM DVD. If there is no recognised OS the system will boot from the
DVD anyway.

If you do not want to preserve any files or settings, format the hard disk
at the screen when you are asked where to install.

Yes it can. All Vista DVDs are identical. The only difference is the
key.

To do a clean install merely requires that a key NOT be entered during
the install process. See here:

If anybody ever bothered to read properly, the OP has a vista 64bit OEM disk.
OEM disks do NOT come in upgrade versions!

Actual quote from the OP's post:

"64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium OEM"

One more time for the comprehension-impaired (put the bottle down
while you read, Mick):

ALL Vista DVDs are identical. The DIFFERENCE - installation-wise - is
only in the product key.

Oh, one more thing, idiot.
You can not upgrade 32bit to 64bit.
This thread has nothing to do with what you are waffling on about!
Just chat with the other elder people in the home where you live.

Nothing!
I just have a laugh at idiots like him.
He took umbrage to my answer to an OP.
He is stalker, with a boring life. He is 65, retired, and BORED.
Also, he does not help people here; he is just a wrecker.
He is a total weirdo with 3 names, that I know of.
Montgomery>Nonny> Barney Fife>the list goes on!

Cheers.

You are 60, still have to go to work every day, and have an
anger-management problem.

OH... and judging from your choice of terms in some of your rants,
you are also a homophobic bigot.

BTW... "Barney" was before your time in the microsoft.public groups.
He retired 6 years ago.

He indicated he was 64. He must have had a birthday. And about the 3
nyms, really? They need to lock him up in an asylum. He'll have plenty
of people he can play with there, socialize and keep him occupied. It's
obvious that he is very bored and lonely, and he'll freak-out at the
drop of a hat.

It's a shame when people get old and just turn cantankerous. Maybe, he
is sensitive to the heat from the computer and he needs to keep a fan
blowing on him.

Re: Windows vista Home Premium 64-bit edition OEM

My, my; I've hit a raw nerve with the faggot, lol.

I work(as you call it!) because I enjoy it, and making heaps of money.

I am in the process of franchising my I.T. business of building and
repairing computers throughtout Australia.
I live in a beautiful part of the world, right at the beachfront.
I don't need booze like you do, I enjoy life!

Get a life, loser.
And I enjoy a good laugh at you!
You are desperate; you binned me, then took me out!
You have no guts, old man.
Lol.

He is just jealous of anybody that has a life.
He doesn't!
He "plonked" me, then had no-one to chat here with, lol.
A very, very desperate and lonely weirdo!

I agree with you, he has overclocked his own Processor.
You can see the heat coming out of the NUTcase.
