print files self delete.

Hi,
I purchased a new laptop with windows vista premium.Installed my new hp deskjet f4280.Coputer shows instaled printer nad no driver problems.When I try to print the file goes to print que and then self delets.HHHHelp!! befor I smash this vista machine over bills box.The printer worked great on old machine with xp.I updated drivers and checked addmin rights and ports,did hp diognostics and everything fine.checked firwall and disable.niothing.Help appreciated.

check the system event log of errors.

enable the Informational events on the Print Folder, File, Server
Properties, Advanced page

at a command prompt or on at Start Run
printui /s /t4

Now print something and check for event 10 in the system event log. Paste
the event contents or if there is any error events paste those contents to a
reply.

I downloaded all up dates for deskjet and any fixes.Ran ascan chack and all drivers up to date.I scaned files to my computer no problems,I printed test print,no problems.
When I try to print a document or anything it sends to printer but nothing happens.Printer is default and ddministrator rights are mine.Please help.

I would expect this if this is a newer laptop without a parallel port. But
that brings up the question; How is the device attached to the laptop?

Hi,
Yes the laptop is a new one and is packard bell.I have instaled the printer via usb port.
