ok, i have tried 4 different drives from 3 different manufacturers, and still
nothing.
all drives are sata
they are the following.
pioneer dvd212d-newest firmware
asus drw-1814blt-newest firmware
samsung cddvdw sh-s203b-newest firmware
one computer is running the pioneer drives, on an asus m2ne-sli using
onboard sound, latest 64bit drivers for everything, windows vista premium x64
oem
second computer is running the other 2 drives, on an evga 780i sli board,
using an echo miamidi, with latest 64bit drivers for everything, windows
vista ultimate 64 oem
both will play the first 10 or 15 seconds of ANY cd then just stop
in foobar i get

in wmp i get
Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged.
Turn on error correction, and then try again.
on ANY cd, including the two disc i JUST opened fresh from shrink wrap.
error correction has been turned on AND off, no difference
in media player classic i just get static and loud noises.
they are all using windows driver 6.0.6001.18000.
all drives read and burn data just fine as well as burn and rip dvd's with
no issues.
can't rip audio cd's, can not burn audio cd's, cannot play audio cd's
help?
any other questions or info needed, just ask.
