Windows Photo Gallery (still) does not list printer

Sorry to reintroduce the same issue as on June 12th. A solution is urgently
needed...

I'm running Vista Home Premium. I have 2 printers installed, 1 hp LaserJet
1010 on USB and 1 network printer. Both printers appear in Control Panel >
Printers. I have access to these printers in any application (Word,
Excel...) EXCEPT in Windows Photo Gallery. The only printer available there
is the "XPS".
What should I do to access my regular printer in Photo Gallery?
I'm willing to go into the registry.
PS The workaround mentioned in

Sorry, can't help, but you're certainly not the only one experiencing this problem and it seems like for most its with HP laserjets.

I'm starting to suspect it's a driver issue. :(

One interesting issue is that if you remove all printers (inc XPS) and try and print it knows there are none installed, gives error and won't start the print window. If you remove all but the laserjet driver, it knows there's some sort of printer, so opens the print window but doesn't list a printer - grrrr.

I did once manage to get the printer to list by removing and re-installing, but with the next reboot the same issue was back.
