HP Color LaserJet 2600n

I have an HP Color LaserJet connected as a network printer and it functions
perfectly. My problem is that if I look at the Vista network map, the printer
is nowhere to be found. I have talked with a few support techs at HP and they
say it should show right up. In fact, HP's support totally sucks lately! They
can offer no suggestions as to why it is not there. It is not in the
addtional devices section either. Any suggestions would be gratefully
appreciated!

Try creating a new local port pointed at \\remotemachine\sharedprinter and
see if it works.

Hal, There is no remote machine. It is on the network via ethernet at address
192.168.1.103!

If it functions perfectly, then that's all you need.

The network map function does not add anything for you.
Not all devices will appear on the map, nor do they need to.

To appear in the map, it has to respond to queries that it doesn't
understand.

The network map is basically just a toy for small home networks, intended to
relace NetBIOS based browsing.
Don't be surprised if older kit, or kit intended for non-domestic use does
not appear there. That doesn't affect the network functioning in any way.
