    xlive.dll help

I have a Windows Vista desktop. Recently bought Halo 2, installed and played it for hours without any problem. Next day due to some other reasons i required to uninstall Windows Live from the system. After few hours of doing this when i tried to continue my game, it crashes just before launching with an error message saying:

    "xlive.dll is missing."

Is it talking about Windows Live? Why does it requires Windows Live to run a game installed on local PC? Can somebody please provide me any fix of the same? Please dont tell me to re-install the game because it will make me play the game from beginning again which i dont wanna do. Thanks.

Yes, it is talking about Windows Live and you will need to install it back because you may not play online but the game uses those Dynamic Link Libraries to run, even offline. Hence download the most recent version of LIVE, select the components you want and install. Now try to play the game. If still you face the same problem then there is no way left other than re-installing the game.
