| Windows Explorer crashes on notebook after Vista SP1 upgrade.
Last friday I've upgraded my Vista Home Premium 32bit (on my HP Pavilion notebook) to Vista SP1. And at first everything seemed to be working well, until the notebook went to sleep. After I made the notebook return from sleep mode the TaskBar got stuck and after a minute the Windows Explorer crashed. After multiple resets, that done nothing but waste my time (since the Explorer kept on crashing without any reason when I tried to use the TaskBar), I noticed that before the TaskBar gets stuck Windows Firewall/Defender pops-up a bubble near the clock stating that my computer is not protected (Since I made it stop asking me idiotic questions when I try to execute an application or configure a setting). Once I disabled the Firewall completely it seemed to stabalize, but I decided to disable the auto sleep after a specified period of time option, just in case. Any idea on how can I solve this issue? Thank you. P.S: Allow me to patronize for a bit. Microsoft stated that Vista SP1 will resolve issues reported by the users, but so far all I've managed to find on-line are cries for help on both Pre-SP1 and after SP1. And the only good thing I noticed from this upgrade is that now Vista recognizes all 4GB of RAM. Also, SP1 is not really fast. |

I recommend to anyway who has this problem to restore to the last point before SP1. |

What's the fault bucket data for that Explorer crash according to the Problem Reports and Solutions Center? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket will help you look that up if you don't know how. -- Speaking for myself only. | Re: Windows Explorer crashes on notebook after Vista SP1 upgrade. My laptop also crashes after I accidently left the auto update selection on and rebooted....it downloaded and installed the SP1 updates automatically!!! First I do is usually turn off auto update functions~ I'd suggest a restore to your previous settings or in your case and my, can just use the image restore functions on laptops. Once back into the system, turn off auto Windows update......... I only download updates with specifity ........ as in the update will fix that one thing I am sure that I have problem with!! -- gudodayn Intel C2D E2180 ~ 3.33GHz @ 1.48V (Swiftech Apogee) 4 x 2GB DDR2-800 ('5-5-5-15@1.9' (5-5-5-15@1.9)) MSI P35 Neo2 FIR WD SATAII 500GB x 2 @ Raid 0 (128KB Stripe size) WD SATAII 250 x 2 @ Raid 0 (128KB Stripe size) Seasonic 750W NEC 3540A IDE DVD Writer Philips xxx SATA DVD Writer Lian-Li A70B Chi-Mei 22" Wide Screen LCD Logitech Z4 Speakers Vista Utilmate x64 |
