Hp Photosmart C3180 Problem

Hi
I hope someone can help. I received a HP C3180 as a gift and just
tried to install the cd that came with it. It says Vista doesn't
support this software...what do I do now?? :confused:

Can anyone offer any help please? I'm not the most technically minded
person ever.

Hi

Was it straight out of the box or a hand-me-down?

If the former contact HP, otherwise it appears there is a Vista driver
available. See

You may have to enlist a friend or colleague to assist you if you are unsure
how to proceed. Alternatively, you local friendly computer store probably
would help for a modest fee.

The CD has an XP driver only I suspect, you need the Vista driver.
Go to http://tinyurl.com/3cpshn
the full instructions for installing the driver are there, click the download
and save the file in a folder. Make sure the cable to the PC is NOT connected
to the printer.
Now run the downloaded file and follow the instructions. All should be well.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll give that a go. The printer is
straight out of the box, brand new. So fingers crossed this will work.

Just remember to install all the software you download with the USB
cable from the printer disconnected from the PC -- if it is USB
connected that is.

Before you try reinstalling:

(1) Go to Control Panel / Printers folder and delete any icons that
show there for the printer.

(2) Go to Remove Programs and uninstall any HP software for the printer

(3) Reboot with that USB cable disconnected

Then install the software and do not connect the USB cable to the PC
until either the installation tells you to or until you reach [Finsih]
