Vista SP1 installation fails, checkSUR reports

Hi!
I have Vista Home Premium.
I tried to install SP1, but it fails. (several times)
Menory checked, files scanned, ....
I get error code 80073712. It tells me nothing.
Update starts after SP1 installation has failed checkSUR and it gives error:
(f) Corrupt
Manifest CSI 0x00000000\winsxs\Manifests\x86_microsoft-windows-network-security_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_cd24 6fe92a8ad809.manifest
Hash: Stored hash does not match file hash

Does this prevent installing SP1?
What should I do to correct the manifest or is there something else I can
try to get SP1 installed?

In XP, Manifest errors just like that were always a problem with the
original media being corrupt. I think it safe to assume this is like that. I
would try to get the update to download again.
Start orb, type:
cleanmgr

This should delete all TEMP files and let you try again.

Re: Vista SP1 installation fails, checkSUR reports

Hi!
I used cleanmgr and also deleted update history and update files from
"software disrtbution/datastore" and ".../download.
I started update again, but I think update did not download new files
because it was so fast. Where files are hiding? Or is the real problem
menifest problem whisch is reportet by checkSUR. Funny that SP1 update cann't
tee anything more detailed, on lys that it fails. It installs and the green
bar goe to the end and then "update fais" message.

Re: Vista SP1 installation fails, checkSUR reports

Did you get SP1 through Windows Update or Internet Explorer? If you used IE
then clear the TIFF (temporary internet files folder). You can do this with
Disk Cleanup or even better use Ccleaner.

Re: Vista SP1 installation fails, checkSUR reports

The same here, we are not alone. I have done everything that support said and
still no go, i did find some corrupt files when i ran the system file
checker, so if this is my problem, the only way i know to fix corrupt files
is to do a reinstall of vista, is that right ? I did try to repair vista with
the install dvd and showed nothing wrong, wow what a suprise. So is it not
strange that i never had any problems with xp? I just had to have vista when
it came out last year, installed the first day it was released, should have
kept xp. Thanks
Mark
