SD Card not being read by Vista

Hello,

This morning I was able to access my SD card for my camera with no problem.
But then all of a sudden I went to download some pictures that I had taken
afterwards and the computer doesn't recognize the card. When I unplug it from
the reader it does the ejection sound but when I plug it in it gives an error
sound (three small low grade beeps). I put the SD back in my camera and the
pictures are still there. Why is Vista not recognizing the card all of a
sudden?

restart PC and try again

Hi *GenesisJourney* to begin with and I may be alone here, I very seldom
unplug my memory card, unless I have to. I don't like to remove them
anymore then I have to. I use my usb cord that came with the camera and
turn on the camera and "copy and paste" my pictures that way, most of
the time Vista will ask you what you want to do after turning on your
camera, I chose "explore". It would be interesting to know if your
computer will see the pictures on your camera doing it that way. If so,
I would suspect something is either amiss with the card slot or maybe
you are using the wrong one. ( Sorry if I sound rude, I assure you I do
not intend to).

having to turn on the camera for the computer to see the card. When I got a
brand new Dell computer it had an on board SD card reader. It worked fine for
the first few months. However, since this last Vista update it stopped
reading it. Rather it stopped reading it after it being in the card reader
for two days and during that time Windows updated itself. I would go back to
the USB cord but the connecter on the camera (or the cord) is starting to go
bad.

I've rebooted the computer numerous times (both with and without the card
inserted), tried to do the latest "fix" and even "rewakened" the PC both with
the card in and without. Nothing. At this point I'm about to throw my Vista
computer out of the window and go back to my 2004 Mac Powerbook laptop that
is still in mint working condition!

Any other suggestions?

When you look at your drives do you see the memory slots?( Ie:
removable disks). Have you tried looking in device manager to see if
they are flagged?
Are you talking about the service pack update or just a simple update?
So many questions, so few answers.

What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately.

What about when you look in "device manager" are they flagged, with a
yellow flag?

Don't know how you made out. ( Hope you got it working)
After reading quite a bit about SP1 update there has been instances
where people have had "driver" problems after updating to SP1.
Do a search on google and maybe you will get a hit that addresses your
problem. Also check your Cameras site online and look for new drivers.

Just an FYI... had the samew problem with my HP and found the driver was
part of the HP upgrade pack, that was supposed to be loaded just after the
Vista Upgrade. Your problem may not be with HP but it would be logical that
your PC manufacturer would have the driver.

ME TOO!! SD card worked fine one day and not the next, but the card itself
is fine - still works in camera, etc. The drive does not even appear anymore
in My Computer. It is flagged in Device Manager with Code 10 Error message.
I'm freaking out.

1) If you are using a USB cable with your device, check the cable to
make sure it matches the speed of the device. Use USB 2.0 cables with
USB 2.0 devices and USB 1.1 cables with USB 1.1 devices. Swap cables and
check the device, if this does not work, proceed to Step 2.

2) Next, open Device Manager and look under the heading for USB Serial
Bus Controllers. If there is a device with a yellow exclamation mark
next to it such as USB Mass Storage Device. Double-click on the entry
and check the Device Status. If the status shows something like

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

proceed to Step 3.

3) The easiest way to solve a USB error code 10 in Windows XP is to
follow the steps below to remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

A. Click on Start
B. Right Click on My Computer, click on Properties
C.Click on the Hardware tab
D. Click the Device Manager button.
E. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
F. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers
node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
G. Restart the computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB
controllers.
H. Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure
that the issue is resolved.

*Windows vista cannot read SD card*
When I plug in the SD card, the device driver cannot be found, and the
card
cannot be read. I tried to install the KB936825, but at the end of the
