Re: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Forgive me as I am new to using forums. But other than that after
reading about 600 Posts on the ATIKMDAG display driver /failure recovery
error message I thought maybe I could help (un)muddy the waters a bit.
Some of the users seem to be implying certain conditions are common and
therefore a part of the problem, but they differ from my scenario and I
am having the same problem so..... For that reason I thought Id list my
system details and let you know that yes I too am receiving the infamous
ATIKMDAG related display driver error message. BUT -

I am not a gamer (ouch, dont punch..)
Happens at start-up, i.e. system is not hot
    Laptop is brand new
    Using external display (Dell 2000FP)

Other than that my sys is

    Vista Home Prem 32 bit
    3G RAM
    AMD Athlon 2.2 GHz processor
    ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

Hope this helps, and by the way, if anyone REALLY does have a simple
solution please do advise. I apologize if it was already posted and I
just missed it or dont know the correct way to find the final
    'resolution' to a Post.

    Thanks!

Re: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Hmmm, hate to diasagree with you on that, I just installed a 4670 card
to replace 8600 gt that was getting display driver has stopped
responding and has successfully recovered. So same basic problem on both
ATI and NVIDIA. A friend has a Toshiba laptop with INTEL video and she
gets same error too. So, for me, that suggests a Microsoft issue rather
    than ATI driver issue
