| Vista Shut Down Computer Keyboard Shortcut.
I have an elderly neighbor who has a new Vista laptop. Both she and I find it hard to see the shut down icons (lower left) for use with the mouse. Please help us find a keyboard shortcut to shut down the computer. XP is so much easier to see and use. Thanks. Chris. |

You are prompted with the usual shutdown options. Perhaps your neighbour should take a look at the Ease of Access Center in Control Panel. A lot can be done to improve the Vista experience for those who struggle with their eyesight. Just shut the lid, it will go to sleep, then after a day or so, it'll hibernate. My wife does it all the time, with no problems. Just have to connect the AC plug when you open it back up. -- http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview "Chris B" <notdisclosed@gate.net> wrote in message news:#DZP7GSgIHA.484@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > I have an elderly neighbor who has a new Vista laptop. Other than what others have said (using ALT+F4) if items on the screen are too small, something you might want to try doing is adjusting the DPI. Right-click on the desktop go to Personalise, and then on the left hand side of this window you should see Adjust font size (DPI). The default setting is 96 DPI, the next step up is 120 DPI, but if you click custom DPI you can drag a ruler out, so you can actually set the correct DPI for your monitor. You'll need to reboot the machine after making any changes. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK.
