Vista Ultimate sees Canon LIDE 30 but can't install Vista driver

I recently bought a brand new Canon LIDE30 USB scanner to install it with Windows Vista Ultimate edition. I received a CD with the scanner but the guy who picked it up has lost the CD somewhere. Hence i went to Canon's official website, selected the Model, selected my Windows Version and downloaded the driver.

Now though the driver installation goes fine without any error issue, i cannot see the canner anywhere on my system. Not even i printer and faxes. When i try Veu scan it is done in a jiffy. Any help would be appreciated.

Just try out the following and see if it works. Unplug the scanner from your computer. Delete all its softwares and drivers. Run Disc Cleaner from start menu and delete everything related to Canon. Delete all its folder created earlier while installing the drivers and all. Restart the computer and now install the software and only connecting the scanner when either the installation procedure tells you to or when you reach [Finish]. That's a normal requirement for any USB connected device, to stop Windows installing any driver it happens already to have.Hope that helps.
