lmpgspl.ax codec and Run32dll

When I try to add an mpeg/mpg file to DVDMaker I get "This problem was caused
by lmpgspl.ax, which was created by Ligos Corporation." and the program is
closed.
I have been reading the other postings but not found an answer. I have
changed the lable to lmpgspl.ax.old but to no avail. I get similar message
when I try to move the mpeg/mpg file. Earklier advice referred me to a HP
site but as I don't have any HP on my computer, I cant progress. I am a
computer novice! Can you help?

Could you verify what exact message you currently get when you go to the
Problem Reports and Solutions Center and check for solutions? I believe all
the responses should point you to a "how to unregister that codec" response
and none should point to the HP ViiV response.

I think people got pointed to the HP ViiV response because I believe that
was the last licensed redistributable for this unsupported codec.

You simply need to remove or unregister or uninstall this codec. It's not
supported on Vista.

How did it get installed to your system? Whatever software did that was
probably in error.
