Vista backup error message: The system cannot find the file specified(0x80070002)

I installed Windows Vista 3 months ago one one of my computer. Now i want to backup the same as it contains several important programs and data. When i click on "backup", then on "Backup files for your entire computer", it gives me the following error message:

I get the error message "The system cannot find the file specified (0x80070002)".

I canceled twice to continue to the backup process. After few minutes i again got a new error message saying that my disk is not having enough space to complete the backup. and the process failed. This is was very irritating. I deleted some files from my hard drive to free up the space and again started the backup. It gave me the same three errors again.

Can somebody please tell me what is wrong and how can i get rid of the same? Many Thanks.
