    * No output audio device installed - the Fix

Problems after upgrading windows vista? and/or McAfee not working?
you have to completely remove McAfee, and re-install it
uninstall using add/remove programs, and then use McAfee’s removal tool
you’ll find you can’t click on any javascript links
    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen...=10005&type=TS
    http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

No Sound? getting the “ No output audio device installed “ message?
You’ll have to download and install a new driver for your audio device
clicking upgrade in the device manager didn’t work for me
but you can see what your audio device is and google it
lucky for me I could login to Dell support and it linked me my download
that’s when I found out java links don’t work, I couldn’t download the driver

I hope this saves many the frustration

You should install a Vista update (Update for Windows Vista (KB929685)).

    Download from

    Microsoft says for this update:
Install this update to address an issue
that may prevent high-definition audio devices from initializing
after resuming the system from a sleep or hibernation state.
After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

I've uploaded it, because Microsoft just let who has a Genuine Windows to download it.

I've tested that in my Vista X32 Ultimate and it has no problem.

You can download from Microsoft's site, I don't force you! But this is just a single update file and doesn't have anything else to be worry about.

NO! If you want to install a Windows update, *get it from Microsoft*!

It is hard to be sure who the poster is or what is on the site he mentions.

You can to the Microsoft web site http://wwww.microsoft.com and search for
    KB929685.

That said, I Googled for the site the poster cited: it looks possibly
legitimate...I still would go to Microsoft, however :-)

I was just responding with my normal paranoia. Note that I even admitted
that when I Googled for your recommended site, it looked legitimate to me.

Here's the problem: you are honest (in my current opinion) - but a lot of
people on the Internet are not honest. So, it is prudent to not go to an
unknown site recommended by an unknown person.

I did not mean to indict you: I meant to recommend normal prudence, and I
apologize for giving a different impression. I didn't express myself well
    in that first post, sadly.

    No problem man :)

I just said that for other users confidence.

But it seems that this site admins didn't like that URL! someone merged my two posts and removed the download link.

Anyway, if anyone wants the download link (from 4shared), just send me a PM ;)

First of all could you please tell us what is your computer specifications? What operating system have you installed in your pc? Are you using an onboard sound or some external sound card? Have you scanned your pc with some antivirus tools to check whether it is a virus problem or so? Have you tried going into the bios and making sure that the onboard sound is not disabled?
