16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio

Ok I'm tryin to burn something in windows DVD maker. The video is in 16:9
format so that is what I pick, but only the dvd menu is in 16:9 and the video
itself is in 4:3. I have tried burning it both ways and it always ends up
being a squished video with black bars on the sides instead of top/bottom
like widescreen should be.

RE: 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio

Hi Smithical,

Are you trying to watch the video on a widescreen monitor? If you are, then
there is nothing wrong. The 16:9 and 4:3 refer to the screen aspect ratio. If
you watch something in the same aspect ratio as your screen then it will fill
your whole screen. If you watch something in 16:9 ratio on a screen with 4:3
ratio you will get blank areas above and below the picture. Likewise, if you
watch something in 4:3 ratio on a screen with 16:9 ratio you will also get
blank areas. This time, however, the blank areas will be on the left and
right of the picture.
