Vista "Complete PC Restore" doesn't recognize backup files.

I recently used the Vista Ultimate "Windows Complete PC Backup" utility and I
think I'm glad I did, If I could get the restore to work.

I am running an Intel Q35 MB with Adaptec SCSI RAID and an SATA drive that I
use to backup to. The RAID totaly crashed and required replacing of a drive
but unfortunatly required formating as well. No problem, I just backed
everything up right? Well it would be OK but when I boot off the Vista DVD
and use the system repair options to perform a complete PC restore I get the
    following error:
"No valid backup locations could be found."
Now I know the backups are there because I can use the command window and CD
to the drive their on and see them. The files are there why won't the Restore
see them? All neccessary drivers are loaded and all the drives are visible.
    What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance.

Same problem here. Anybody with a solution?

I' ve got a quad core with only sata 3 connections ..

strange : the *Second* DVD of the complete backup set can be viewed
    with the restore!

    not the first one..

The "VALID" backup sets are kept in the WINDOZE directory
on the drive that crashed. Kinda bad place to store THOSE huh?

Hopefully someone at MS wrote a utility to fix this issue. I have
a 500 GB RAID 1 setup that is backed up incrementally to a USB
500 GB drive. BUT after a restore of the IMAGE COPY of the RAID
I cannot restore the BACKUP files at all from the USB drive.

I have the same problem. I had to restore the PC to the way it came from
the factory but it does not recognize the complete backup I did on an
internal drive. I can see it there with it's VHD files but it will not
restore them. HP and MS have not been able to help. What should I do?

If you happen to be restoring the backup to a different hard drive, see
the hard drive volume requirements given by Al Degutis in his article,

The answer is being propigated throughout various Visat boards: use the last disk of the backup series first. Just like back in the day when we used to span floppies, it seems to look for the last disk, then it will tell you to insert the first disk. After that, you are on your way. Seems Microsoft could have taken a moment and explained that!

I'm having the same issue but am not using DVD's. I backed up to a USB HD and cannot restore the PC.
I did confirm that the image file is on the external HD.
has anyone figured out a solution to this?
    Thanks
