Error message when starting Task Scheduler

Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me here. I had posted this issue on different forums, but yet not received any answers. I cannot run Task Scheduler in Windows vista. I do not know why this is happening but this is a bit of irritating which is causing the issue and it is not a pain. How can make this work. My reminders are also not working.

It is a clear issue of user rights. The task that is scheduled to run is not able to perform in your account. Check for user permission. You can look inside Events logs. It will give you the complete information on errors. Post the log here.

I getting that issue on Admin account. I had setup some task and in the morning when I turned on the computer I received a number of errors popups. The only other account is Guest with no password. I tried to check something in Event Log but there is nothing mentioned. All I know that Task Scheduler has stopped working due to some reason. But it was working before. How does suddenly a issue of file permission appeared.

Windows Vista is totally worthless according to me. I created a new task and enabled the time for reminder. Now it was configured in my account. I have 3 more accounts in the same system. I work under a domain where my account has authorization to work with task. The next day when I turned on the computer I receive a error message saying that the specified account is invalid. What does that mean. Does the admin has right to block the process.

    Fix Reminders - <username> error

I came across this error after syspreping a Windows 2008 server (basically changing the computer name), Fix will also apply to Vista

    • Open windows explorer
    • Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\WindowsCalendar\
    • Select Reminders - <username>
    • Right click Reminders - <username> and select Delete
    • Click Yes to delete the task
    • Close windows Explorer
    • Open Task Scheduler
    • Error should not appear

NOTE: There might be more than one Reminders - <username> task that needs deleting

As of March, 2012, this info is still valid and helpful.
    Thanks
