    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp

I've unzipped a file and C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp is where the file
(microsoft money 2003) goes. I first unzipped to my desktop but ugh, all the
files. Now with the file in the above directory, I can't find it to open it.
Second, how do I make it a real program, ie. like microsoft word, excel etc.
I'm not sure the above directory is the right place for this file. Please
    provide me with some direction.

Where did you get this .zip file from?

That program is NOT distributed as a zip file (to my knowledge). Is is
distributed on a CD/DVD as a bunch of files on the disk. If you downloaded
it from Microsoft it is likely a self extracting executable.

In the first case the program would start the auto install procedure by your
inserting the disk in the tray. In the second case you would run the
    executable.

If someone just zipped up their folder where "they" installed Money to, and
gave the .zip file to you, you do not have a working version of Money. It
must be "installed" on the computer where it is to be used.

    Re: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp

The zip was my file on another computer of mine that had microsoft money on
it before the drive was formatted. The original CD was destroyed by my kids
when the flushed it to clean it. Someone gave them the bright idea, but it
    got scratched up.
So anyway, I thought I could put extract the zip file to the right place to
get it going again. I know there's a way, I just don't know how to do it or
    where to put it.

    Re: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp

Money must be "installed" the correct way. You can not just unzip a previous
folder and expect it to run.

The install routine places hundreds of files in many different folders - not
just one folder (as was common when Windows 3.11 was in use). The installer
may/will place hundreds, or many hundreds, of entries in the system
registry. Your copying a folder is not going to do any of this. Buy another
copy of Money and install it the correct way.
