Well first of all always check microsoft.com.
Try to follow this link and do all that it says.
If that dosn't help come again.
'Windows Vista Help: Check your hard disk for errors'

    especially notice this section:
To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan
detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the
disk check will simply report problems but not fix them.

    did you try that.
    no teasing honestly.
it is normal to forget the most obvious.

Run chkdsk from an elevated command prompt. Right click the command (dos)
icon and choose 'run as administrator', then run chkdsk from the prompt.

Go to Computer in Start Menu = Left click Computer, when window opens
right click the C: hard drive and choose properties, go to TOOLS, on the
top you will see check disk for errors, click schedule task and reboot,
when your computer restarts check disk utility will run.

You can't run chkdsk while running Vista. You must run it with a Vista installation disk or repair disk. Boot from CD, click next, choose repair, open command prompt, then type:
    Code:
    chkdsk C: /r /f
If you get prompted to unmount the volume C:, Say YES.
This will correct disc errors. However, depending on the amount of errors on the disk, you may need to run chkdsk multiple times.

    Good Luck.
