Conflict with Symantec AntiVirus and KB905866 update

I installed the latest round of Vista updates (I have Windows Vista Home
Premium) and my Symantec AntiVirus (Corporate Edition version 10.2.0.276)
stopped working. More specifically, it gave the error message "Could not
start scan. Scan engine returned error 0x20000003." When I checked out the
Symantec site they said this occurs when running in Safe Mode, but I'm not in
Safe Mode. Any ideas of what to do? For now I uninstalled KB905866 (Update
for Windows Mail Junk E-Mail Filter [Januray 2008]) to get Symantec AntiVirus
    working again.

Uninstall everything from Norton (Symantec) or McAfee and install Avast! Do
a Custom install and don't install email scanning.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
