Google Earth is not compatible with Vista (Plus Google earth is Verrrry
memory hungry). Try Local.live.com, they also have a 3D View which is
compatible with Vista.
I have Google earth running in Vista ultimate. It runs fine here no problems
Works fine here with Ultimate.
Not true. It's runs fine in Ultimate.
Runs fine here under VISTA Business ....
Are you running the latest version
Google Earth 4.0.2737
Build Date Jan 31 2007
1) Do you work for Microsoft?
2) Do you have any clue as to what you're talking about.
I just installed Google Earth. It did not install any toolbar outside
of it's own program.
It did ask me if I wanted Google as my default search engine. I
checked "no".
I know this thread is old, but, can anyone tell me why google earth is using up nearly 2gigs of RAM and then crashing, on my vista ultimate os?
I really enjoy google earth but it is a real pain having it crash after about 4 minutes of use. I can watch my RAM build up to about 70% (I have 4gigs) and then GE crashes.
I have tried using the tools/cache clear when it gets to around 60% and that does help some, but it will still crash ultimately.
It does not do this on my XP OS.
I am trying to figure out why it doesn't dump the cache as I go along. Any help?
Ok.. well after a week of trying to figure this out, the solution occurred to me right after I posted this.
Basically it was a .pebcac extension issue.
So I resolved the problem by simply reducing the cache size under tools/options.
I had it set to high. I lowered it to the minimum of 32/20 and now everything works fine.
Goodle earth is a great program but be aware that it requires a substancian amount of memory.
If you are having problems with your computer, check how much memory you have in it and consult on the net the amount required to run google earth smoothly... You may have to add memory to your computer
And you work for Google, right?
Earth is indeed a mind-boggling program and still free.
Bravo! Google.
We just don't need advertisements here, OK?
For Windows PCs, from Google's site:
Minimum
System Memory (RAM): 256MB
Recommeded
System Memory (RAM): 512MB
So you're kidding, right?
Or did you really mean Goodle Earth? I didn't check that one...
Run Google Earth in Vista with 512MB of RAM.
Go ahead.
I can't. I have more than that :-)
Works fine.
Gene I think with the way XP has grown and with the things that people
unwittingly install I would suggest a Gigabyte at least. It makes a huge
difference.
Whatever. I happen to have Vista Home Premium x64 and 4GB...
I can't recall when I last had only 1GB of memory; probably well over 5
years ago.
The original Op's definition (and some other posters) of a "substancian
amount of memory" is obviously different to yours and mine. I think that
3 -4 gigs of memory is now normal. I would hate to run anything on Vista
with 512meg of ram.
The original poster would no doubt appreaciate the infomation that, although
Goodle Earth will run on a machine with a substancian ammount of mamary even
if it be measure in killerbites with floppy dik of less than one mommabite.
Best of coarse to have a substancian ammount wich measure in jiggabites with
a sirius hard dik of more than a friggabite. that is of coarse requited to
abcessing the goodle inferface with full fuctionaly, and naturaly i mean
FULL fuctionnaly not just the smidgin of stuff that you get when you don't
watch out for this kind of crappy machine speckifucation.
No offence, name-a-rooni, but this paragraph is a keeper!!!!! Nothing like
spraying a mouthful of coffee on a new monitor!
Hey, man, you've got to be careful. There are so many posters who can't
help writing that way, that at first I missed your satire. Give us
(mental) slowtards a clue next time!
In sort, I enjoyed your post...
