| Error 80070002 When installing update to Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
I got this strange error today when installing last nights automatic updates. A check of the help files tells me what to do if I get this error WHILE trying to check for updates but this is not the case as Windows Update checks for updates fine but just won't install them. Anyone have any ideas? -- Mark R. Cusumano Skype Name: mark.cusumano |

I should have just done that in the first place. I do wish Microsoft would make it easier to find the manual download instead of making you search for it by clicking 2 different links but at least they do make it available and this did exactly as you said it did. It also got rid of the "hidden" update for 1.1 SP1 after the manual install. -- Mark R. Cusumano Skype Name: mark.cusumano |

thanks from me too as I had the same problem.....don't know whether it's connected to the reason for the patch fix or problems with the update but my Windows Live Mail has lost its contact list. |

| Manual update doesn't work
Hi, I tried to follow your advice, but the manual update doesn't work. Instead I get the message 'Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. The Wondows installer cannot continue. I am not exactly a buff, but I also don't think I did anything different from what you wrote. Thanks for any advice. |
