    Internet Explorer freezes

Just got a new computer running Vista Basic with 1GB RAM. I notice that
Internet Explorer locks up on a regular basis. The only way to close it is
    with the Task Manager.

Is there a solution to this?

If i open Explorer with no add-ons, then it works perfectly; about twice as
fast and no lockups. But then certain functions won't work, like videos on
YouTube because there is an add-on that loads Java.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

What I suggest you do is reset Internet Explorer settings then re-add those
add ons that most sites depend on such as Adobe Flash Player and JAVA SE
Runtime. In IE, click Tools > Options > Advanced (tab) > under 'Reset
    Internet Explorer settings' click 'Reset'.

    Re: Internet Explorer freezes

You probably have a add-on in IE7 that is bad. You can reset IE7 to
disable all it's add-ons, then just enable them one by one until you
find the bad one. Delete the bad one when found.

    To Reset:
    1. Open Control Panel (Classic View)
    2. Click Internet Options
    3. Click Advanced tab
    4. Click Reset button
    5. Click OK to confirm

    To Enable/Disable/Delete Manually:
    1. Open IE7
    2. Click Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or Disable Add-ons

    Re: Internet Explorer freezes

I've reset as suggested, but Internet Explorer still lock up at random
times. It's hard to determine which add-ons to remove; there are 67 enabled
add-ons under "Add-ons that run without requiring permission."

I have no idea which are necessary and causing problems and which are not.
Is Free Threaded XML DOM Document 6.0 the problem? Or how about
HtmlDlgSafeHelper Class? It would take me years to look up and research all
67 add-ons and turn them off one by one to see if the problem persists.
Are there any sites that advise on what all these add-ons are for?
Any other advice on solving this annoying problem?

How much RAM do you have?
    Are you using a router?
