Disable ReadyBoost

Sponsored Links
I am having problems downloading video podcasts in Itunes. They download but
then disappear. The solution in the forums on the Apple site says that you
should disable ReadyBoost. I don't know how to do that since, to my
knowledge, there is nothing in my computer using it. Can anyone give me a
suggestion in how to find this and what to do to disable it?

Re: Disable ReadyBoost

Click on the Start button.
Click on the Control Panel menu option.
Click on Performance Information and Tools
Click on Advanced Tools in the left hand navigation bar.
Click on Configure my Windows ReadyBoost device

You will now be back at the Windows ReadyBoost Properties. To disable
ReadyBoost simply select the option that is labeled Do not use this device.

Re: Disable ReadyBoost

Control panel ... Administrative tools ... Services ....
Find the ReadyBoost service and right click and disable it.

Re: Disable ReadyBoost

I wouldn't recommend it, but you can turn off the ReadyBoost service by
typing "services.msc" in the start menu search box. Stop the ReadyBoost
service in the console that opens up. You'll have to run as admin.

And here's how to enable/disable ReadyBoost for a device, if you need to:

Re: Disable ReadyBoost

A far better solution is to dump iTunes. ;-)

Keep in mind that disabling ReadyBoost will also disable Readyboot, so
expect your startup time to increase.

I can't imagine how Readyboost would be affecting iTunes... those Apple
folks truly need to get their development chops smacked.
