| Screen flashes each time I am logging out from Vista
Hi, I have recently bought a new computer with Vista (Home Basic) on it and I want to make sure that this is normal behavior in Vista. Each time I am logging out from Vista, right before the login-screen appears, my monitor "flashes" on/off like if it does not get the video signal for a half of second or something. Is this normal? I wondering because at two previous occasions I have got messages from Vista that the graphics driver has not responded in time and has been recovered. Thanks in advance! -- Sincerely, //Andreas |

Have you updated the graphics driver and see if it corrects? -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry <jonsson82@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1193630936.128090.217730@d55g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... > Hi, > > I have recently bought a new computer with Vista (Home Basic) on it > and I want to make sure that this is normal behavior in Vista. > > Each time I am logging out from Vista, right before the login-screen > appears, my monitor "flashes" on/off like if it does not get the video > signal for a half of second or something. | Re: Screen flashes each time I am logging out from Vista I get the same problem on my machine, and I am using the latest x64 nVidia driver (163.69). It's almost as though the systen is turning off the display or changing resolutions for some reason. I havn't been able to solve this myself. Any takers? -- dzomlija ____________________________________ Peter Alexander Dzomlija Do you hear, huh? The Alpha and The Omega? Death and Rebirth? In the device manager, I have right-clicked on the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE) and choosed Update drivers, search online and it tells me that the latest and best drivers is already installed. But maybe it's better to download the driver pack (ForceWare) from NVIDIA's homepage, or what do you say? -- Regards, //Andreas |

Yes. I was little worried first that it was a hardware issue, but as far as I can see it's sounds more like a driver issue. I can test the latest ForceWare driver pack too see if that solves the problem. I'll write again. -- Regards, //Andreas |

I have now uninstalled Vistas driver for the graphics card and installed the ForceWare drivers 163.69 for my NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE. But Vista keeps to blank my screen for a second each time I logout. Maybe it's normal doing, I don't know. -- Regards, //Andreas |

I have a Fujitsu laptop with the Intel GMA 945 Express chipset. I upgraded from Vista HP to Ultimate a couple of weeks ago. After the upgrade Windows did some updates. Now when I lock the computer or the screen saver starts and I unlock or log in the desktop appears for about twenty seconds, after which time the screen flashes six or seven times, off and on, for another thirty seconds. I've tried changing screen resolution, and disabling Aero: No effect. The flashing is VERY annoying - and there seems to be no way to stop it. Another feature of Vista Ultimate perhaps? Hi, Luke, Nope, same problem, no solution. I've searched; I have the latest NVIDA driver. I think it's a Vista thing: I didn't have the problem with Home Premium; it only started when I upgraded to Ultimate. | Re: Screen flashes each time I am logging out from Vista Did you remove the previous NVidia driver before installing the updated one? The best procedure from experience seems to be visit the NVidia website and let their online gadget pick the latest driver. You can also do this with motherboard drivers if you have an NVidia chipset on the motherboard. Download to the desktop. Set your Antivirus and security software NOT to start with windows. Remove the old driver(s) using control panel. Reboot. Reinstall the chipset drivers first if there are any, and reboot again. Reinstall the new video driver. If you let Windows Update do this for you it only works "Sometimes", probably because the old driver is in use and cannot be modified on the fly. This seems to break the install and you end up with half new, half old and problems as a result. This will probably mess up your desktop a bit (Icons move) but that is unavoidable and easily fixed. If there is no improvement then at least you can be fairly sure the video drivers are installed properly. Pat wrote: > Hi, Luke, > > Nope, same problem, no solution.
