    FSX running out of memory

I got the game earlier this week, and it runs fine except for the above
mentioned problem, I don't understand since my computer has 4Gb of RAM, and
all RAM meters never goes over 50% of the RAM that is been use

    CPU Athlon 5200+
    RAM 4Gb
    OS Vista x64
    Video EVGA 8800GTS 640M

What do you have setup for a pagefile ? I found under Vista, that it seems
to like it's meaty pagefile. Under XP, I often run with no pagefile or maybe
a pagefile around 512MB, since I have 2GB of ram. But under Vista, after
playing BF2142 for an hour or so I'll get a crash to desktop with a low
Virtual memory error. Once I upped the pagefile to 1024, that fixed the
    crash in Vista.

Maybe you're problem is that you have too much memory, time to scale back
    to1GB :)

The pagefile is managed by the system and is around 2048Mb

I tried your idea. and find it isn't the answer for FSX. My setup is
similar to the original poster. Vista Ultimate 64 bit, 4 GB RAM and an
Nvidia 8800GTX. I can pretty much cause the problem to occur simply by
flying over a city with the scenery and autogen settings at maximum.
After a few minutes all I have to do is switch to spot plane view and
pan around fairly rapidly for a bit. FSX goes into a bit of a coma the
useage for both cores on the CPU goes to 100% and FSX either crashes to
the desktop or produces the out of memory error. When it happens, I am
only using about half the RAM.

Well, if it's easy to reproduce, then it's probably just a memory bug, maybe
some kind of memory leak internal to the game in which a certain buffer or
register leaks out, but doesn't consume more ram. Maybe it's actually Video
ram that it's complaining about. Since the nVidia drivers are a little soft
right now, maybe it's the way they are doing something.

The game STALKER has kind of the same effect. Crank that bad bo up to Max
detail and full dynamic lighting and my X1900XTX will pause for 2-4 secs
when doing certain pan around looks. Though part of the problem is it
appears to be a poorly optimized game or it was written to run on hardware
that doesn't exists, they actually mention using a 8800TX or ATI 2800 for
    max settings.

I'm curious, does you errr look like this

    [error]Expression : fatal error
    [error]Function : _out_of_memory
    [error]File : D:xray-svnxrCorexrDebugNew.cpp
    [error]Line : 339
    [error]Description : <no expression>
    [error]Arguments : Out of memory. Memory request: 4096 K

If so, there is a thread over in the Nvdia nZone about 7900 and above cards
getting out of memory errors, mostly in Vista

I will have to look more closely at the message the next time it occurs.
It occurred to me that the problem might be related to the graphics
card or drivers, because in full screen mode, the mouse cursor would
change from white to black before the crash.

    FSX running out of memory

This is really weird, i have probably the same system as yourself.. 4GB RAM but 2X 8800GTX Graphic cards SLI.. 64BIT Windows Vista.. this is a really powerful system, but yet the same problem as yourself where FSX seems to crash and says Low Memory... etc... i only have the right sliders on settings to half way, but all the left sliders to max..
I also have downloaded the latest up to date NVIDIA graphic drivers, so im slightly baffled, but glad to see im not the only one out there with a similar spec, where FSX is having problems running and where the same issue arises.. help!!

    FSX running out of memory

    Hi,

I'm trying to use FSX, but I can not make any flight that are more than
60minutes, after 60minutes FSX crash with a message that it has run out of
memory, and that I should lower my video

I have an Nvidia 8800GTS with 640Mb of RAM, and the computer has 4Gb of RAM,
and when it crashes the memory is barely at 30% utilisation

BTW the Video settings are 1600X1200X16

Re: FSX running out of memory

    1) Check your virtual memory setting and see if it is at max. I had a
problem some time ago with a Photoshop program that kept giving me out of
mem errors. Turns out I had gone from 1GB to 2GB RAM but XP did not readjust
the virtual memory. Manually bumping it up to max resolved the issue. I don't
know if the same applies to Vista but worth a try. I am on vista now (new
PC) with 3GB RAM( added 1GB recently) and an 8800GTS card but have not tried
FSX yet to see if I have issues.

    2) Some report using 16 bit instead of 32 bit in the video settings of FSX
    may solve the problem.

    3) Majority of the errors seem related to 8800 series cards as well so as
usual make sure you have the latest drivers

Good luck and would love to know when you resolve it

I have been using FSX since last November. I bought a Dell 720 XPS with a Core 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4 MHrz and 3GB Ram. I have VISTA 32 bit Home Premium OS and I have a NVIDIAGeForce 8800 GTX Video Card and a 1TB7200 Hard Drive. The FSX has run great in stock mode (no add ons) with good frame rates. I recently purchased some aircraft add-ons and also installed Ultimate Terrain X and Ground Environment X. Now I can't make a flight over 30-40 minutes without the simulator just freezing. It gives me the out of available memory dialogue box and I've just wasted my flight time. I've tried finding solutions. Dell sold me a memory stick to configure in ready boost mode to supposedly increase memory above the 3GB that came with the computer. I think I got bad advice as that didn't do anything at all to resolve the memory problem. I'm really loosing the joy I used to have with this flight sime stuff and am desperately trying to get some good advice. I'm not a high tech computer person so I need some advice I can understand. Would appreciate any recommendations. HELP!!!

Its in the game...not Madden but FSX. Someone said it might be the UTX and GEX. Any ideas.

The "Out of Memory" dialogue box, is it in the game? or Windows giving you
    this error.

Yes it could be. How big is the size of the graphics card? 1GB? 2GB?

Yes these games consume a lot od space actually. So you need a lot of
space to load them and also et them running.

Re: FSX running out of memory

So I'm curious......why does it operate just fine for about 30 minutes, with no hang ups at all.....and then start disintigrating after that. Is there some aspect of the game that keeps loading graphics into a cup until it just overflows? Any ideas what I can do to fix this. My graphics card is 768 MB.

Re: FSX running out of memory

I use FSX without any expansions on a GF9400GT with 512MB. Also after some
time it gives me a LOW SYSTEM MEMORY ERROR. I have 3GB RAM installed, SO my
guess is that the Graphics card`s lack of space has something to do with
    this....
