| Media Player 11 Crashes on launch
For some reason, my Media Player just crashes now if I merely launch it. Playing any sort of file is out of the question. All I have to do is click the shortcut, it pops up, opening to the library section...then immediately crashes. The error info is below: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: wmplayer.exe Application Version: 11.0.6000.6344 Application Timestamp: 46e5f12e Fault Module Name: Indiv01.key Fault Module Version: 11.0.6000.7000 Fault Module Timestamp: 46de5d7e Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000bd390 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8d13 Additional Information 2: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Additional Information 3: 8d13 Additional Information 4: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?link...3&clcid=0x0409 |

If you installed any third party codecs, especially whole packages, that can cause problems. One quick fix that sometimes helps is start up Microsoft's Movie Maker. Under Tools, Options, click the Restore defaults button. This should reset Movie Maker, Media Player and Photo Gallery all at once telling them not to use any third party stuff. It shouldn't effect how any third party applications themselves work. |

Bleh, I'm just going to rebuild it. Ever since I've put the new Nero that is supposedly "Vista Compatible" on my machine, it's been acting wonky. I can't even uninstall it correctly. This had nothing to do with the Media Player, though, as Nero's been lingering around my machine since I built it months ago. Wipe it! The panacea for Vista's headaches! Heh. Good as new again. Now that I think about it, I think this started happening after installing the newest Roxio, which also supposed to be Vista Compatible. I had no problems with the application itself but who knows if that was the cause of this. I'll be sure to set a restore point before installing it this time. Thanks for all the input.
