| Double Login after Windows Update W/ Vista Business
I have this weird thing going on where after a Windows Update I have 2 Icons for the same account on the login screen, I only have the one account and clicking either one will take me to the same one. If it helps I have a Fujitsu laptop. Bob |

There are several users who have recently reported this problem. The users all seem to have a couple of things in common. They are using a system that has a Fingerprint Reader and they are all using the Omnipass program. A poster named JohanL solved the problem. I got double icons, 2 for standard and 2 for admin after Windows Home and Student installed. What's interesting is that if put computer in hibernate or sleep and I open, double standard icon appears and says locked. Finger swipe shows and then I am in. Called Lenovo and said omnipass is Softex program and installed by them. Here we go round and round. I am a novice and not willing to take too many risks. Maureen If I were you, I would tell Lenovo that either they give you a way to fix the computer they sold you or they can take it back and refund your money. Softex may make the software, but Lenovo installed it and set it up. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Maureen" <Maureen@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3A254B6C-8CEF-40A8-971D-33FEA8399B5D@microsoft.com... >I got double icons, 2 for standard and 2 for admin after Windows Home and > Student installed. I called Lenovo and it is Softex software. IBM said I could send computer back to them and they would restore it to original factory condition. I really do not want to do that. What do you think? Is this that big of a deal? I have learned a lot from this site and I am going to uninstall the many trial programs I have to see if that makes a difference. | Re: Double Login after Windows Update W/ Vista Business
I read that this was caused by a conflict with Norton and a Windows update. The solution is to uninstall and re-install the Softex (Omnipass) software. First, of course, make sure you have the Softex install program on your restore disk. Mine was under the driver directory, fingerprint software. Second, backup your Omnipass profile so you can restore it after reinstallation. This is accessed through the Enrollment Wizard. Worked for me. | RE: Double Login after Windows Update W/ Vista Business
Is there anything detrimental in leaving the 2 icons as is? At this time, its too much work to bother with installing and uninstalling programs, but I will if it causes issues such as increase bluescreen errors and stuff. Also, what exactly does OMNIPASS do? Do I need it? Can I not use fingerprinting without this program?
