| Control Panel does not work
Since the 11 July updates my control panel will not work. I go the continues update problem solved, however when ever I start the control panel a new blank window opens and closes again after about 5 seconds. I do not know if this is related to the former update issue. Thanks for the help |

Restart SL UI Notification Service and Software Licensing... all icons will come back Right-click Computer and choose Manage. Open Services in the right-hand pane. Double-click on SL UI Notification Service. By default, it's Start-up type is Manual. Another service, Software Licensing, should be set to Automatic. If Software Licensing is not running, click on Start. Can you open Windows Update? If so, in your Update History, were there any driver updates (non-KBxxxxxxxxx types) around July 11? Have you added any program that may have added a control panel item? |

I had the same problem. Vista control panel empty. I found that directions above worked. In addition, I had to restart my system for some reason. Installing and uninstalling software will get SL to drop. |
